Mutsuo Hirano

Hirano is an artist of Japanese origin who was born in Hyogo in 1952. After leaving his country in his early twenties to move to Germany, he ended up in Alta Tuscia in the early 2000s. And it was here that, driven by his fascination of the Etruscan culture, Hirano discovered clay, a raw material that was “easy to mould” for him. He developed a unique style, creating heads and bodies with an archaic taste, which he sometimes painted in bold colours. He also searched for a way to express his strong dynamism by assembling terracotta fragments.
