Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Guided tour retracing the history of Viterbo’s ceramic history in its most significant places, from the Almadiani Church to the Museo Civico Luigi Rossi Danielli – Civic Museum –. Viterbo boasts a millenary tradition of ceramics, starting with the Etruscans, but it is in the medieval period that ceramics became very important, with the development of local workshops. It was the first city in Italy to have a statute regulating the activity of ceramists. Thanks to contact with foreign craftsmen and centuries of experience, Viterbo became a creative hub of innovative techniques, first and foremost the “Zaffera”.
